FAQ

Psychosomatic Medicine & Psychiatry

What happens during my first visit to Psychiatry?

At your First Visit, we'll take our time listening to how you've been feeling — both physically and emotionally. We'll ask about your daily life, when you started feeling the way you do, and anything else on your mind. You only need to share what you're comfortable with. If you're worried about not being able to find the right words, please don't be — we'll work through it together based on your intake form.

Can I visit without my family finding out?

Yes, please rest assured. Your medical information is fully protected as private. We will never disclose the fact that you visited us to your family or employer. Prescriptions are filled at an outside pharmacy that you visit yourself, so there is little concern about mail or other correspondence arriving at your home. For more details, please feel free to contact us via LINE, phone, or our contact form.

Can I consult you about my child's health concerns?

Yes, we do. If you're a parent concerned about your child's physical or emotional wellbeing, please don't hesitate to reach out. Whether it's "they just seem a bit down," "they don't want to go to school," or "they seem restless" — if something is on your mind, you're welcome to contact us via LINE, phone, or our contact form before scheduling a visit.

What is the difference between counseling and a psychiatric consultation?

A psychiatric consultation involves a physician diagnosing your symptoms and, when needed, prescribing medication and offering guidance on your care. It is also covered by health insurance. Counseling, on the other hand, is provided by a psychologist or other specialist who offers emotional support through conversation — without diagnosis or prescription. If you're not sure which is right for you, please feel free to ask us.

How long will I need to continue taking medication?

It varies depending on your symptoms and diagnosis. In general, it is common to continue medication for some time even after symptoms improve, as stopping suddenly can increase the risk of relapse. If you have questions like "how long do I need to take this?" or "can I reduce my dose?" — please bring them up at any appointment. We'll work through it together at a pace that fits your life.

What is the Welfare Medical Subsidy Program?

The Welfare Medical Subsidy Program (outpatient psychiatric care) is a government program that reduces the patient's out-of-pocket medical costs for ongoing visits to Psychiatry or Psychosomatic Medicine clinics — typically down to 10% of the total cost. It is available to patients who require continuous treatment for conditions such as Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Schizophrenia, and others. Applying requires a Medical Certificate issued by our clinic (¥5,500). Please let us know at your appointment if you'd like to apply.

Internal Medicine

Can I come in for mild symptoms like a cold?

Of course. Please feel free to come in for any cold-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, or headache. Even if you think it might not be serious, it's sometimes important to get checked sooner rather than later. If you notice any change in how you're feeling, please don't hesitate to visit us.

Can I come in just for the management of lifestyle-related conditions?

Yes, we provide ongoing management for lifestyle-related conditions such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, and obesity. Whether your condition is currently stable or you're looking for regular check-ups and prescription refills, we'd be happy to help.

What vaccinations do you offer?

Home Medical Care

How do I arrange Home Visit Care?

Please start by contacting us via LINE, phone, or our contact form. We'll listen to your current situation — whether from you or a family member — and work out a suitable schedule and plan for home visits. Even if you're just at the stage of thinking "getting to the clinic is becoming difficult" or "I'd like to find out if home visits are possible," please don't hesitate to reach out.

Can you help if someone suddenly becomes ill at night?

Yes. As a Home Medical Support Clinic, we provide emergency home visits 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If someone becomes suddenly ill at night or on a holiday, please call our emergency line.

What kind of care can be provided during a home visit?

We come to your home or care facility to provide the same level of care you'd receive in the clinic — including consultations, prescriptions, IV drips, and various tests. We also treat conditions across Psychosomatic Medicine, Psychiatry, and Internal Medicine, and one of our strengths is being able to care for both your physical and mental health together.

Do you provide end-of-life care?

Yes, we do. We are here to support patients and their families who wish to spend their final days in the comfort of a familiar place. We'll be by your side every step of the way, through to the end. No matter how small your concern may seem, please feel free to talk to us.
